The electronic textbook of Russian for foreigners "USPEKH+" A1

The electronic textbook of Russian for foreigners is intended for foreigners who are beginning to learn Russian, but it might also be useful to those who already have experience speaking Russian and want to improve their skills.
The textbook includes 78 lessons, equivalent to 300 classroom hours, and provides preparation in accordance with the "Requirements for Russian as a foreign language Elementary level".

The structure and content of the textbook

For the student’s convenience, the interactive course is divided into 4 parts, each of which includes a set of communication-based situations, which are crucial at this level, and tools for their language expression.

The First part

Первая часть

Lessons 1 – 19

The First part acquaints students with Russian letters and sounds, and with the rules of their writing and pronunciation.
At this stage, students have an opportunity to master elementary lexical material, constructions of speech and syntax within the topic "Family", to learn how to say the most commonly used phrases, to ask simple questions, and to understand responses to everyday questions. This system of specially developed exercises allows students to hone and perfect skills in practice.
The grammar at this level focuses on elementary knowledge of Russian nouns, adjectives, verbs, and rules of construction of simple sentences.

The Second part

Lessons 20 – 40

The Second part expands the student’s language skills, allowing them to communicate within situations connected to training, and to communicate with the teacher and other students. At this stage students learn how to get acquainted with each other, learn to talk about themselves and their friends, about their home country, and about Russia.
Pupils learn about the general structure of the Russian case system and become familiar with prepositional case. They also become acquainted with forms of nouns, adjectives and pronouns in accusative, genitive, dative and prepositional cases of both singular and plural forms; learn to conjugate verbs, including verbs of motion; and begin to develop an understanding of the present, past and future tenses.
The knowledge is gained and solidified through practice using the systems of language, speech and communication- based tasks.

The Third part

Третья часть

Lessons 41 – 60

The Third part includes themes such as "My day", "In the hostel", "Life in the big city", "Library" and "Shop and food".
At this level, the lexical base of the student is improved, their speech and communicative skills improve, and confidence develops as students become more certain in their language skills.
Lexical and grammatical material acquaints pupils with how to tell time and location in Russian; how to indicate the beginning and the end of action; to express direction of movement, and to describe and demonstrate emotion. Pupils develop a detailed understanding of prepositional case, begin to develop an understanding of instrumental case, and work on means of expression of cause and effect relations in simple and complex sentences.

The Fourth part

Четвёртая часть

Lessons 61 – 78

The Fourth part contains lexical themes chosen to complete the training of the Elementary Level proficiency in the Russian language. At this point, it is possible to speak about the themes: "In the dining room", "At the doctor", "In department store", "We write letters and greeting cards". "We tell about St. Petersburg", and "We go to the movies and we discuss movies".
Studying grammar, students get acquainted with ways to express thoughts about opportunity, need and obligation in Russian in the present, past and future tenses, learn the proper use of verbs of motion with prefixes, and understand the rules and proper use of conjunctions in compound sentences.
At the end of this stage, students will have gained a complex understanding and solid foundation of Russian, and the culmination of all of their work will result in proficiency of Russian language.
